Jason Camilleri has been involved in various forms of entertainment for over 17years. After securing a record deal with East/West records his band toured extensively around the UK and Ireland releasing a few singles along the way. Jason decided to take the knowledge he had gained from his experiences in the music industry and began to facilitate lyric writing and music production workshops for young people all around South Wales and the UK. He did this for many years before he re-visited one of his former passions, Theatre, and got involved in the Sherman Cymru’s Acting Out Cardiff programme. This is a scheme which provides an accredited 2 year performing arts course for young people across Cardiff. Now in his 6th year with AOC Jason has gone on to become the programmes Co-ordinator, organising and directing a number of productions and as part of the Sherman’s Learning and Engagement programme he has also taken up a post as one of the Community Engagement directors. Add to this his time spent as a club DJ/promoter and presenting ‘Mixing It’ his own weekly World Music radio show on BBC Radio Wales, I think we can safely say he is a person who seems to have his fingers in many pies. Jason works with Theatre of the Oppressed methods in his work at the Sherman and has trained with Jennifer and now works with the charity when his schedule allows.
