Using applied theatre to bring about
positive change and development
What happened next?
Six writers, six directors and a group of professional actors.
From
January to June of 2010 six plays were developed ten minutes at a time.
Each month the audience got to comment on the development of the story,
question where it could go and give their own ideas. Using Theatre of
the Oppressed methods the stories were developed and the next month we
saw the next ten minutes of the play. At the end of six months we had
six complete one-hour plays which are given a ‘final tune’ by the
writers based on audience feedback from the final ten minutes.
This project was developed through this project run and is now being
rolled out in various tailored formats to a number of locations
including theatres, amateur groups and schools.
